Techer is a returning class in Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis.
Class Weapon Overview
Wand
Wands are general purpose Technique casting weapons that can also be used as an melee weapon. Wands can be imbued with an element by casting a charged technique, which allows them to create Technique "explosions" when striking enemies with melee attacks that inflict additional damage and strike all enemies near the blast.
Using the Guard Weapon Action, you can block attacks and negate their damage when Guarding right before the attack hits you.
Class Mechanics
New Mechanic: Charged Techniques
Charging a technique will lead to different actions. For example,
- Charging Foie will result in Rafoie being cast instead, which deals direct damage. The uncharged version fires a small fireball (like PSO2's uncharged Foie) that damages whatever it hits and deals a small amount of additional splash damage.
- Charging Barta will result in Ilbarta being cast instead. After building up a marker with uncharged Barta (which now acts similarly to PSO2's Foie), use a charged Barta to detonate the marker, dealing additional damage. The marker has two stages.
- Charging Zonde will call down multiple small lightning bolt followed by a more powerful bolt, similar to Zonde Type-0. An uncharged Zonde will call down a single lightning bolt.
New Mechanic: Wand Element Change
By charging a technique, the element of the equipped Wand will change to match the charged technique's element, like how the L/Wand E Change ring works in PSO2.
A coloured orb appears at the head of the Wand, showing what element the Wand is currently.
Wand Tech Explosions
Attacking enemies with Wand melee attacks causes technique explosions that deal additional damage. These explosions match the element of the current Wand element.
New Mechanic: Wand Guard
Similar to Hunter, Techer will now have a guard via Weapon Action on Wands. Just Guarding is also possible, which allows you to move when performed. It is not known if this restores PP yet.
New Mechanic: Step Counterattack
After successfully dodging through an attack with a Step, a unique counterattack can be performed by pressing the normal attack button right after the Step, similar to Hero Sword counters.
