Popona is a character in IDOLA: Phantasy Star Saga. She is a self-proclaimed "PR Agent" who wishes to spread the good word about the Aries Knights and recruit willing volunteers into the organization, inadvertently crossing paths with the Aries Knights themselves. She is based on the character of the same name created by SEGA to serve as the game's official spokesperson and Virtual YouTuber.
Biography
Appearance
Popona is a young woman of average build in her 20s with ruby eyes and silvery-gray short, wavy hair. She is typically seen wearing a sleeveless, one-piece dress with gradient blue/white colors and armor-style silver lining, navy blue boots with silver-lined white thigh-high socks, a navy-blue left glove, and a patterned blue hat. She wears a blue band on her upper left arm signifying her position as a PR Agent, with the Aries Knights' symbol affixed to her dress. Her right hand is covered by a pigeon hand puppet named "Hatosuke", who, despite being a hand puppet, appears to have sentience and "converses" with Popona (despite sharing her voice).
Personality
Popona is a bubbly and enthusiastic girl who is rarely ever downbeat. She loves meeting people and allying with the Knights, and especially loves the attention and popularity that comes with the job, even if she is not quite as popular as she hopes to be. Popona has a kind and compassionate heart and is willing to aid others when the time comes. Her hand puppet, Hatosuke, is similar to Popona personality-wise, but has a tendency to snark and quip at Popona.
Story
In EPISODE 1, Popona is primarily off-screen for most of the story, but is revealed to have been trailing the Aries Knights as they travel across Vandor, constantly finding herself in peculiar situations as a background character while the main characters are elsewhere. After the true power of Dark Falz Theater is unsealed and is transferred to Erwin, Popona happens upon Theater's original host body, who was abandoned by Dark Falz, and takes him into her care. Popona meets Uly shortly after and entrusts Theater to Uly after Theater expresses interest in traveling to Aero. Popona later returns during the climax alongside various other characters to assist the Aries Knights in fighting back the onslaught of Idola attacking Leoria.

- As part of a collaboration, Popona's outfit parts are available in the Illusion software V-Katsu, an all-ages free-to-play spinoff of the adult game Koikatsu that allows players to create and share virtual avatars.
- Popona's age is not officially revealed in-game, but she states that she is old enough to drink. An interview with 4gamer reveals that she is 20 years old, which matches the legal drinking age in Japan.
