The core mechanics of the Quest involve defending Mining Bases. Mining Bases are large towers that are marked by colored hexagons on the map; the goal of the Quest is to survive all of the Waves without letting all of your Mining Bases be destroyed. Different versions of Mining Base Defense have different
To assist in defending your Bases, Crystals are scattered around the map for players to collect. These Crystals add to a "bank" total indicated by the Point counter on the right side of the screen. These come in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large. Small Crystals provide 10 Points, Medium Crystals provide 30 Points, and Large Crystals provide 30 Points. All Crystal types also give 50 EXP per Crystal collected. When certain values of Points are reached, Players may access Control Panels on Mining Bases or Defense Pads to activate a variety of features.

While using a Photon Particle Cannon, hold the Attack Button to charge a gauge at the center of the screen. When the gauge is full, release the Attack Button to unleash a powerful laser. While the laser is active, the cannon's turning mobility is reduced, but the laser inflicts massive damage against anything in its line of sight. Lasts for a few seconds before expiring. When the laser is exhausted, the cannon despawns.

- After a wave is over, any remaining Goldrahdas including ones with broken back will run towards tower and self-destruct. This can be interrupted and delayed with barrier burst which will freeze them, allowing MPA to finish them off.
- Try to take down infected ARKS Campship, they will target towers or ramdom MPAs with machine guns and missiles.
- Vibrace will create a bomb and throw it towards a random tower. If this is not destroyed, the explosion can easily kill MPA that is close and destroy the tower.
