General Information

Affixing is done through the "Add Special Ability" (特殊能力追加) section of the Equipment Lab. To add an ability to an item, you must have another item of the same type with the same number of slots or more. All materials used when adding special abilities will be permanently gone regardless if it failed or succeed.

  • For example, a weapon currently with three special ability slots can use any weapon with three or more special ability slots as material.
  • Weapons can be used as materials for weapons, and units can be used for units. You can't use weapons on units or vice versa.

By combining two or more lower ranked abilities, you can make a higher ranked one. (ex. Freeze Ⅱ + Freeze Ⅱ = Freeze Ⅲ)

The only exception to the rule above is Ability. See "Fusion Success Rate" table below for more information.

Status Effect abilities can only be added to weapons, and Resistance abilities can only be added to units.

You cannot add two abilities with the same name as one will overwrite the other. (ex. Freeze Ⅱ and Freeze Ⅲ on the same item.)

When using "Ability Success Rate" items to boost the success rate, the value is added after the "Slot Penalty" is applied.

When using "Soul Bonus" to boost the success rate, the value is added before the "Slot Penalty" is applied.

Prior to affixing, it is highly recommended to use a simulator.

Ability

Ability is a Special Ability that can either be synthesized or transferred; it currently appears in-game as Ability I, II, III, and IV, although Ability IV can only be obtained via the use of Ability Factors. The presence of another Special Ability, Doom Break, can boost the transfer and synthesis rate of Ability III (only Ability III) by 20%.

Ability can be synthesized by combining the same tiers of Power, Shoot, and Technique or Body, React, and Mind. For example, to synthesize Ability I Power I, Shoot I, and Technique I must be present in at least one of the fodders being used.

Ability can also be transferred when multiple copies of it are present in the fodders. But due to how rare it appears on dropped fodders, it is usually better to synthesize it.

Mutation

Mutation is a Special Ability obtained from Titled Enemies, with Mutation I dropping from Normal Titled Enemies and Mutation II from Special Titled Enemies appearing usually in Seasonal Emergency Quests or other type of Special Quests.

Mutation has the characteristic to boost the synthesis of next tier abilities from their previous forms; the synthesis rate of a Power III from this normally would be 30% if the fodders being used has two copies of Power II in it, by adding Mutation in it it can boost the success rate of Power III with Mutation I making it a 60% rate and Mutation II at 70%.

However, Mutation II can only boost the synthesis of abilities up to the tier IV while Mutation I can only boost up to tier III.

Alter and Flict

Stigma

Stigma is an affix that gives a huge amount of DEX and PP that drops from the Rare Variants of an Enemy. It can also drop from Rare Enemies like Tagamikazuchi.

The Ability cannot be synthesized; Transfer of Stigma, however, can be boosted by 20% with the use of Soul Abilities from Ultimate Quest Bosses.

Vinculum

A rare Ability that drops from certain Emergency Quests and titled bosses. Collect File reward weapons also often have it affixed. As it occupies the same slot as Modulator with a lower stat boost and lower transfer rates, Vinculum is generally not used in high-level affixes.

Vinculum cannot be Synthesized; Transfer of Vinculum, however, can be boosted by 20% with the use of Anga Soul.

Modulator

A rare Ability that only drops from Clones during Emergency Code: Clone. Due to its rarity and relatively large stat boost, Modulator is a highly valued affix and can sold for a decent amount of Meseta in Player Shops.

Modulator cannot be Synthesized; Transfer of Modulator, however, can be boosted by 10% with the use of Apprentice Soul or Double Soul.

X the Soul

Soul-type abilities whose names are suffixed with "the Soul" are special "combo" Souls that can be synthesized by using certain Souls combined with any normal field Soul (those that aren't dropped by special enemies or Emergency Quest bosses).

Catalysts

Catalysts are unique Abilities that can be synthesized by combining certain Abilities together. By synthesizing four Catalysts and combining them with a fifth Ability, the five components can be used to synthesize an extremely powerful Ability.

ARKS MAX

ARKS MAX is an Ability that gives 25 to S-ATK, R-ATK, and T-ATK. The ability can be synthesized with ARKS Fever, which makes the ability extremely rare. ARKS MAX occupies the same Ability type as Vinculum and Modulator and thus cannot be affixed at the same time as either.

Seasonal Abilities

Seasonal Abilities are Abilities that are only available for a period of time on certain times of the year.

Fever

Fevers are Abilities that has a 100% transfer rate even if there's only one copy in the fodders used. Fevers drop from Seasonal Rappies and Nyaus, making them common or rare depending on the season.

Necky Smile

Receptors

Receptors are rare Abilities that can be found on certain pieces of equipment. Receptors cannot be synthesized or transferred, but when used as a component in Affixing, it greatly enhances the transfer rate of other types of Abilities.

Soul Receptor

Soul Receptor is an Ability that can be used to boost the transfer rate of Soul-type Abilities. Soul Receptor can be found on equipment dropped by any boss-level monster in Phantasy Star Online 2es. When used as a component in Affixing, Soul Receptor boosts the transfer rate of all Soul-type abilities except for "X the Soul" and Astral Soul to 100%. When transferred this way, Souls do not require multiple copies to enable transfer.

Soul Receptor can be used to transfer "X the Soul" at a rate of 70%.

Soul Receptor can be used to transfer Astral Soul at a rate of 10%.

Extreceptor

Extreceptor is an Ability that can be used to boost the transfer rate of Flict and Arma type abilities, as well as enhance the transfer and synthesis rate of Stat IV/V Abilities. Extreceptor can be found on equipment given as an Emergency Quest Clear Reward for Extra Hard difficulty Emergency Quests in Phantasy Star Online 2es. When used as a component in Affixing, Extreceptor boosts the transfer rate of all Flict and Arma abilities to 100%. When transferred this way, Flict and Arma abilities do not require multiple copies to enable transfer.

Extreceptor can also be used to boost the synthesis/transfer rate of Power/Shoot/Tech IV/V.

Phrase Receptor

Phrase Receptor is an Ability that can be used to transfer Phrase Abilities. Phrase Receptor can be found on weapons sold in the Battle Coin Exchange.

When used as a component in Affixing, Phrase Receptor enables transfer of Phrase-type Abilities at a rate of 100%.

Sentence Receptor

Sentence Receptor is an Ability that can be used to transfer Sentence Abilities. Sentence Receptor can be found on weapons sold in the Battle Coin Exchange, and Units sold in the Buster Medal Exchange.

When used as a component in Affixing, Sentence Receptor enables transfer of Sentence-type Abilities at a rate of 100%.

Factor Receptor

Factor Receptor is an Ability that can be used to boost the transfer rate of Factor Abilities. Factor Receptor can be found on equipment dropped in the Eternal Tower in Phantasy Star Online 2es. When used as a component in Affixing, Factor Receptor boosts the transfer rate of all Factor-type Abilities except Ether Factor to 100%. When transferred this way, Factors do not require multiple copies to enable transfer.

Factor Receptor can be used to transfer Ether Factor at a rate of 10%.

Mark Receptor

Mark Receptor is an Ability that can be bestowed by using a Support Item in Affixing. The Mark Receptor item can be obtained as a Scratch Bonus from the AC Scratch. When used as a component in Affixing, Mark Receptor can be used to transfer "Mark" abilities, normally unable to be transferred, at a rate of 100%.

Ability Slots

Certain Abilities occupy the same Ability Slot and thus cannot stack, attempting to stack these Abilities will just overwrite the previously placed (older) Ability.

Adding Extra Slots

When adding Abilities, it is possible to increase the number of slots on the base item by one by using the extra slot. When using the extra slot, the success rate of all abilities will be lowered by a certain amount depending on the number of slots. An item can have a maximum of 8 special ability slots.

Some event such as PSO Day increase the success rate by 5% or 10%.

Ability Success Rate up

Guidance of Life potential

The potential of Zeinesis weapons, "Guidance of Life" increase the success rate by 2% at level 1, 5% at level 2, and 10% at level 3. This only applies when the potential is on the base item. If the potential is on one of the fodders, the effect doesn't apply.

Same item fodder

When the base item and fodders are all the same item (same name), the affix success rate is increased. With one fodder, the affix rate is multiplied by 1.1 With two or more fodders, the affix rate is multiplied by 1.15 Note that for this effect to apply, the base and fodders must all be the same item. If a single fodder is different, the effect does not apply.

The order in which the above effects applies is the following :
